Lukas Rieder founded Parlant GmbH in 2022 to support companies with focused teams during their digital transformation. Before that, he spent over a decade as a self-employed software engineer, advising firms across Europe on cloud infrastructure, data architecture, and agile software development.

A Path Without a Degree

Lukas Rieder never went to university. What others learn in lecture halls, he taught himself — line by line, project by project, over many years. From an early age, he immersed himself in programming and IT systems. The drive to truly understand things rather than merely pass exams shaped him into a practitioner who commands both theory and implementation.

That mindset defines his work to this day: a relentless will to learn, paired with the experience that only comes from years of hands-on work on real systems. Cloud architectures, data platforms, programming languages, agile methods — all of it acquired through reading, experimenting, and exchanging ideas with outstanding colleagues.

Career

Lukas began his entrepreneurial journey as co-founder of PaperC GmbH (2008–2011), a pioneer in digital learning materials. He then worked as Senior Backend Engineer at Wooga GmbH — one of Europe’s largest game studios — where he co-developed business-critical game backends and built internal BI tools.

Since 2008, Lukas has been active as a freelance software engineer and IT consultant. During this time, he delivered an impressive number of projects for well-known clients in e-commerce, media, healthcare, financial services, and renewable energy.

In 2020, he co-founded hibase UG together with Andrea Canedoli, specialising in business intelligence solutions and data platforms. Working with Andrea — an exceptionally sharp mind — is something Lukas considers one of the most valuable chapters of his professional life. Through hibase, they managed data infrastructure for companies including Peek & Cloppenburg and Bergfreunde.
